For those of you who were involved in FFA, then you know where the title of this post comes from. The FFA creed is something that has been engrained in my memory since freshman year of high school. I was chosen to compete for GCHS in the contest where I memorized and recited the creed to a panel of judges. This was one of the many competitions I competed in throughout high school. Each and every competition taught me more about myself and provided me with more tools to prepare for my future. Not only did the competitions teach me these things but my advisors did too.
Each of my advisors taught me something different. They each helped mold into who I am today. Our advisors were mentors in almost every aspect of life. If you needed help with another subject they would help the best they could or they would find someone who knew more about it. They each encouraged you to become a better leader. Through their actions and encouragement I was a leader in our FFA chapter for three years. I even continued to run for state office. Even though I walked away without a position, I knew those who had pushed me to that point were proud of me. Even one of my advisors who had moved to a different school was there for me during that time.
When I graduated high school, I started college knowing I wanted to go into agriculture education. I wanted to be able to go back into the school and be the best advisor I could be. After watching my advisors, I knew I had big shoes to fill and a long way to go. I knew with handwork and dedication I could become an ag teacher and join the FFA world as an advisor.
Fast forward to my senior year of college. I changed my major to agriculture communications. Why? I had started to get burnt out on the whole education thing. At the time, I thought I needed to go in a different direction. I was so happy about the change! I loved all of my communications courses. They had me excited about school again! The graphic design, writing, and social media classes were so much fun! I am still so happy I changed to ag communications!
Now, I have been out of school for a year and a half. I have worked in an insurance office and a vet clinic. I have found two amazing work families! Each one teaching me more about myself. They both brought me life long friends and so much happiness! Now, it is time to join a new family. This school year I will be teaching agriculture at my high school. It was a difficult decision but I feel in my heart it is exactly what I am ready for. I am excited and nervous for this new journey! I know each class, advisor, and life experience has prepared me for this new adventure.

Thank you to everyone who has helped me get to this point! Thank you to my family, friends, and my wonderful fiancé! This especially goes out to all of my FFA advisors, my student council advisor, all of the teachers who have mentored me, my coaches, and my co-workers. Each of you have played a major role in molding and shaping me into who I am today! I would not be ready to jump in head first if it weren’t for all of you! Just be ready for me to call you when I need help and advice during my teaching journey!

I am official! I am so excited to be teaching at GCHS this year!
